2007-2008 Flu Shot Update:

We have received our entire shipment of flu shots for this season and have started making appointments to give them.  Especially if your child is considered as high risk (see below) please call us to make your appointments.  There are no anticipated shortages this year (though anything still is possible).

If you'd like to receive email notification each year when our flu shots become available, click HERE.

Every year, certain people should get flu shots.  The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends them for all children 6 to 23 months of age, and for older children with any of the following conditions:

bulletAsthma or other chronic lung disease (i.e. cystic fibrosis)
bulletDiabetes
bulletCertain cardiac diseases
bulletImmune deficiencies
bulletHIV infection
bulletSickle cell anemia or other anemias
bulletDiseases requiring long-term aspirin therapy
bulletChronic kidney disease
bulletChronic metabolic disease
bulletSeizure Disorder or severe Cerebral Palsy

Also, the following people should get flu shots:

bulletHealth care personnel
bulletHousehold contacts of any child for whom the above list applies
bulletChildren in households with adults who are at high risk
bulletPregnant women in any trimester

Children under 9 years of age who have not received a flu shot in a previous year should be vaccinated twice, about 1 month apart.  All others need only receive one shot.
