This page has biographical information and pictures of our pediatricians.
All of our pediatricians are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics
and we are all Fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics. To find out what it
means to be "Board Certified," click on this link to the American
Board of Pediatrics web site.
Four of our pediatricians (Drs. Goldberg, Lloyd, Moussa, and Wilcox) are fluent in

Bryan Auerbach, MD
I was born and raised in the Chicago area, went to
undergraduate school at the University of Michigan and medical school at the
University of Illinois. I finally was able to escape those cold Midwestern
winters when I was offered a residency position at the University of Arizona
Health Sciences Center here in Tucson. After completing my three-year
pediatric residency, I moved to South Lake Tahoe, California and started my
pediatric practice there. After six years of dealing with a rather transient
population, I decided to move back to Tucson when I heard that there was an
opening at Catalina Pediatrics (Dr. LaBelle, who started Catalina Pediatrics
years ago, was my oldest daughter’s pediatrician when I was a resident at the
U of A) I’ve been here ever since and have watched our practice grow
from the years when we had just 3 doctors in the group to our current
complement of 6 pediatricians in our new location on Swan Road. When I’m
not at work, I enjoy all types of outdoor activities such as hiking,
backpacking, and skiing. I have 3 children; the oldest is a pediatrician
in Massachusetts, my middle daughter is a pediatric nurse in Phoenix, and my
youngest is an Architect currently working in Boston. I also am the
proud grandfather of four wonderful little boys, Max, Keegan,
Tate, and Joey.

Steve Goldberg, MD
Although I was born in New Hampshire, I have lived in Tucson all but four
years of my life. It is a wonderful place to live and I have a great job playing
with and caring for kids all day; therefore, I have no intentions of ever
leaving. I went to undergraduate school at Claremont McKenna College in Southern
California. After four years in L.A., I returned to Tucson with my wife, where
we both began our careers in medicine. We went to medical school and did our
residency training at the University of Arizona. I was very fortunate to have
been offered a position at Catalina Pediatrics during my third year of residency
and my wife is a practicing Obstetrician/Gynecologist. We have two fantastic
children, Rachel and Joshua, who keep our lives very busy.

My joy in being a Pediatrician is that kids are so genuine and spontaneous
with their thoughts and feelings. They are also, for the most part, very
resilient and happy. These things make it so easy to go to work every day. In
addition, it is great to share in the happiness of new parents and watch
families grow.
My interests outside the office include my family, Major League Baseball,
playing softball, and bike riding.
Janel Lloyd, MD
I am a native Tucsonan with my roots anchored deep in this desert soil.
Both my grandfathers came to Arizona shortly after statehood, seeking, of all
things, good health. My parents actually remember when The Lodge on the
Desert was truly in the desert. I attended the University of Arizona for
undergraduate and medical school, and residency as well. Following my
pediatric residency I was asked to stay an extra year as a chief resident.
During this year I was recruited to join Catalina Pediatrics, which was an honor
as I felt this to be the most stable and well respected pediatric practice in
Tucson. In fact, Catalina Pediatrics has been caring for Tucson's children
for over three decades!
At Catalina Pediatrics I have discovered what all my pediatric training
didn't prepare me for -- how wonderful it is to share in the joy of a
newborn's arrival; to celebrate with his or her parents the attainment of a
child's physical, mental, and emotional development; and lastly to educate and
thereby comfort families during times of illness. I enjoy caring for all
ages of young people and strive to make our interactions as pleasurable as
possible. I have come to realize the act of parenting is by far the most
important and challenging role we play in life and, although I may not have
all the answers, I hope I can be a source of support.
My interests outside the office include gardening, cooking, and playing
with my two young children.
Sosan Moussa, MD
Like
many born in the Old Pueblo, I have immersed myself in the local environment
and culture, enjoying the rich history, language, and beauty of our
multicultural town. My parents are immigrants to this country and I am a
first generation American. Though I never thought I would leave home as
they did, I did stretch my wings to see the world outside of Tucson. My
travels first took me to Dartmouth College for a degree in Anthropology.
When my interests changed from observing people to wanting to make a change
with them, I moved on to Johns Hopkins for a Masters degree in Public Health.
After working with Native peoples on the Gila River Reservation, I decided
that I wanted to have a more personal hand in helping people maintain a
healthy life. This led me back to the place of my heart and my home, to
the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Along the way I took a
road trip across Africa, worked on the Navajo Reservation, lived in Honduras
and then met another local Tucsonan who led me to my best adventure
yet...having a family. These days, my husband Stewart and I are busy
with twin boys Avi and Elan, and big sister Stella. Our interests
include pottery and crafts with Stella, restoring old cars, swimming and
spending time with our large extended family. Outside of Catalina
Pediatrics, I serve on the Board of the Children's Advocacy Center.
Ariana Foster, MD
I am a
native of California, attended medical school at the University of California,
Los Angeles, and completed my pediatric residency at the University of
Arizona. I have practiced pediatrics for 10 years at UMC's North Hills
Clinic and am Board Certified in Pediatrics. My particular interests
range from the newborn to the adolescent, and I especially enjoy guiding new
parents in caring for their newborns. Dermatology, current acne
treatment, and adolescent gynecology are my special interests. Whether
caring for a newborn or an adolescent, I emphasize communication and I believe
an open-minded approach to parental concerns allows for optimal care and well
being of the patient. My husband Greg and I are the parents of two
fabulous sons, 11 year old Connor and 6 year old Reed, who keep us busy with
school, soccer, tennis and lots of dirty socks! Greg is a busy attorney
at Karp, Heurlin, & Weiss and a soccer fanatic. While balancing a full
time pediatric practice with family life, I also find time to assist our
community's children and serve on the Board of the Angel Charity for Children.
