History

Catalina Pediatrics was established in 1974 by Dr. James Labelle, who was soon joined by Dr. Robert Crowdes.  Over the years, the practice has expanded to include a total of six pediatricians.  The list now includes Drs. Bryan Auerbach, Steve Goldberg, Janel Lloyd, Sosan Moussa, and Ariana Foster (click HERE to see the page with information about our current pediatricians).  All of our doctors did their residency training at the University of Arizona, so you know that we're in touch with the community of Tucson.  We're interested not only in providing quality health care to our own patients but also in promoting the general health of all children in southeastern Arizona.

Health Plans

We are often closed to new patients with some, or even all, insurance plans.  If you are considering becoming a new patient at Catalina Pediatrics, please call us to find out if we are accepting new patients on your plan.

Office Policies

Office Hours:  Regular hours for scheduled well and sick child visits are from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday.   Calls to make appointments can be made beginning at 8am Monday through Friday.

What to Bring to Your Appointment:  You must bring a valid insurance card and your co-payment (if applicable) to each appointment.  Also, please try to bring your child's immunization record to any well check appointment.  If you have new insurance and have not yet received your insurance card, you will need the following information:  insurance company name; claim address; co-payment amount; and policy holder name, policy number, group number, and suffix.

Walk-in Appointments:  We do not allow walk-in appointments, even during our "Urgent Care" hours.  Please call the office and make an appointment before coming to the office or we may not be able to see your child.

Telephone:  We encourage you to use the phone during office hours.  Many problems may be solved with advice over the phone, saving you the time and cost of a visit.  We are happy to provide this service, but it is against the policy of this office to treat by phone when there is a more serious illness or a patient who has never been seen in our office.  Whenever the office is closed, the doctor on call may be reached by calling our office number, 323-3099.  If there is no answer, call our answering service at 747-1234.  Remember, however, that we also require sleep to function properly.  Please call at any hour if your child is truly ill but please save routine calls for regular office hours.  If you have Caller ID, it is likely that your phone will not accept blocked calls (those that come up on caller ID as "Private" or "Out of Area").  If this is the case, you must turn off anonymous call blocking in order to receive a call back.  Ask our answering service for instructions if you do not know how to do this.  If you do not turn this function off, you may not get a call back.

Well Checks:  We encourage you to make summer well check appointments for camp, school, or sports physicals early in the season.  We are very busy with these appointments in July and August and may not be able to accommodate you on short notice during this time of year.  Please bring your child's immunization record to all well check appointments.

Immunization Records and Physical Forms:  There is a 48 hour turnaround time and a $5 fee for these forms to be filled out unless you bring them with you at the time of your well check appointment.

No Shows and Late Shows:  If you will not be able to keep an appointment, please call our office to cancel as far in advance as possible so that we can see another patient in that time slot.  We will try to give you a reminder call one to two days prior to scheduled visits to let you know that an appointment is coming up.  If you are more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, we may have to reschedule you on a future date.  If you miss an appointment without canceling, we may charge you a missed appointment fee.
